Local Heroes

Part of our philosophy is to engage local artists and designers and the producers listed below are doing great things close to home, some of the items are exclusive to 'alabaster'. I just love giving a local an opportunity to sell their products at alabaster, it gives me joy to see other people appreciate the idea of craft and artistic talent.

Which is why about five local designers pop in from time to time to show their latest creative pursuits.  Of course, they are one of a kind and it's the part of 'alabaster' you never quite know for sure!

  • Audrey Harnett - apart from her fabulous jewellery, Audrey's talents know no bounds, last week she dropped off some amazing chandeliers made with granny's old glassware and a light fitting made of mum's EPNS spoons and cake forks.
  • Kirsty MacKirdy - is a talented Barossa silversmith with a style all of her own.  Her designs are lovingly hand crafted in her Gomersal studio and she has a loyal following of those who know quality pieces.  Organic and rustic and weighty with silver, these are special.
  • Field of Pleats - creator Karina Semmler, suffers for her craft.  This young designer lovingly hand-stiches her garments.   They are made with natural fabrics and her designs have extraordinary style which transcends all ages.
  • Susanna Brown - very popular ceramic soap dishes so we alleviate that stuck to the basin soap problem.
  • Max and Me - the very lovely Sarah Lehmann whips up sweet fabric brooches and cushions on the home sewing machine with dog max, at her feet.

And others of course...just depends on who's inspired at the time!
